The Classes
Each residency is designed, catering to the specific needs of the school and the grade level of the students:
DANCE
We offer various styles from Hip-Hop, Jazz and Ballet as well as a variety of cultural dances. Classes begin with exercises to develop strength and coordination are paired with the opportunity to learn choreography. Somatic techniques are also employed so that movements are a achieved with a sense of ease and comfort.
THEATRE
At its core, theatre is simply, living truthfully under imaginary circumstances. Students learn to craft theatre by discovering what inspires them in their own lives. With that in mind classes are centered around self discovery and group collaboration. Through exercises designed to explore the connection of the body and voice as the instrument, to the creative engine of the mind, students discover their own unique forms of expression.
MUSIC
Geared toward elementary schools, students will have the opportunity to develop an understanding of melody, rhythm and harmony through vocal exercises, rhythmic patterns and a small repertoire of songs. Students work collectively towards the mark of any good ensemble, “one band, one sound.”
